Job Summary

The Building Maintenance Technician provides technical support for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. They conduct routine assessments of system performance and ensure proper functioning of departmental equipment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of non-critical equipment, including refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, hot water systems, and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
  2. Monitors the operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment, boilers, and ventilating and hot water heaters, and other mechanical and electrical systems.
  3. Operates and monitors critical and non-critical system equipment and components. Receives and executes work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance on critical systems and building physical structure.
  4. Responds immediately to emergency situations, including fire, evacuation, equipment failure, and customer concerns.
  5. Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  6. Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
  7. Performs additional job duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  1. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  2. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  3. Mechanical and Electrical aptitude.
  4. Working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, standby emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, and associated infrastructure.
  5. Power or Stationary Operating Engineer Class 4 (not required).
  6. Refrigeration Operator Class B (not required).
  7. Building Environmental Systems 1 or 2 (preferred).
  8. Facility Operations Certificate (preferred).
