Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Lab Technician to join our team at EVRAZ North America in Camrose, Alberta. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the high-quality standards of our steel manufacturing products.

Responsibilities
  • Operate laboratory and mechanical testing equipment, including bend testers, hardness testers, cutting saws, sample polishers, and microscopes
  • Cut steel plate and pipe samples using oxy-fuel, plasma torches, and CNC robot plasma cutters
  • Prepare and identify samples accurately and clearly for laboratory testing
  • Follow detailed testing procedures and record findings as per documented guidelines, communicating results with relevant stakeholders
  • Assist Mechanical Testers with day-to-day duties as required
  • Collaborate with all departments to meet business needs
Requirements
  • Mechanical testing experience is essential
  • Familiarity with ASTM, API, MIL, ABS, EN, DIN, ASME, NACE, and Lloyds Register testing requirements is preferred
  • Ability to read and follow detailed technical procedures and report pages
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong data entry skills, including alpha and numeric entries in multiple programs
  • Collaboration with multiple stakeholders internally and externally to meet departmental needs
  • Experience operating equipment and machinery, such as lathes, band saws, and milling machines
  • Oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting, and CNC programming expertise
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including overtime on short notice

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
