About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel, Construction & Commercial to join our team at Teck. As a key member of our legal group, you will work closely with members of our project development group and commercial teams to provide timely and useful legal advice and services in support of Teck's business.


Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on all aspects of engineering, consulting, construction and project contracting, including tender and procurement documents, engineering and other professional services and construction contracts, supply chain matters, claims or related dispute processes, and transactional and policy-based legal advice and services.
  • Develop and improve business processes and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage outside counsel on a variety of matters and work collaboratively with a wide range of customers as part of a multidisciplinary and multijurisdictional team.
  • Lead and develop one legal advisor supporting projects and commercial activities by organizing work and providing opportunities for assignments that leverage skills, promote learning and grow capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum six years of legal experience primarily in construction and infrastructure management and project development arrangements, with exposure to related dispute resolution. Supply chain experience a strong positive.
  • Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.) required.
  • Member or eligible to become a member of the BC Bar required.
  • Strong drafting skills and commercial acumen is required.
  • Independent, self-starter with strong organizational, prioritization and time-management skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of customers as part of a multidisciplinary and multijurisdictional team is required.

Compensation

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.


Salary range: $144,000 – $194,000.
