About the Opportunity

The Squamish Nation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Director to lead the development and implementation of the Xay Temixw Land Use Plan and the Xay Shkwen Marine Use Plan. As a key member of the Ta na wa Yúus ta Stitúyntsam̓ Rights and Title Department, you will work closely with the Director of Rights and Title to oversee the planning, community engagement, and execution of these critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Xay Temixw Land Use Plan and the Xay Shkwen Marine Use Plan
  • Lead community engagement and outreach efforts to ensure the plans reflect the needs and priorities of the Squamish Nation
  • Collaborate with internal staff and consultants to complete scopes of work and achieve project goals
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the Director of Rights and Title on land use and marine use planning, indigenous rights and title, and project management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and other organizations

Requirements

  • Combination of education and experience in urban planning, environmental science, public administration, or a related field
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and stakeholders to achieve project goals
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to think strategically
  • Proficiency in using project management and planning software
  • High level of emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity
