Senior Solar Engineer

Wood's Renewables Project Development & Engineering Consulting business is seeking a highly skilled Senior Solar Engineer to contribute to the design and development of utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar projects.

The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in PV design, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) design, equipment selection, energy yield analysis, and layout optimization to produce high-quality designs for our clients.

The role will involve regular collaboration with clients, project managers, civil engineers, and electrical engineers, as well as opportunities to train entry-level designers and engineers.

This position may be fully remote or semi-remote, located near one of our hubs in Austin, TX, Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, Greenville, SC, or Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop utility-scale PV solar projects, including BESS and hybrid systems
  • Conduct energy yield analysis and layout optimization
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, and engineers to ensure project success
  • Train and mentor entry-level designers and engineers
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, renewable engineering, or closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience in PV solar design, development, and engineering
  • Proficient in Pvsyst and AutoCAD software
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or renewable engineering
  • Field experience in PV solar installation and commissioning
  • Bilingualism or proficiency in a second language
