Wood's Project Development and Engineering Consulting business is currently seeking a Senior Solar Design Engineer to contribute to our team's success.

In this exciting role, the ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar design, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) design, equipment selection, energy yield analysis, and layout optimization to produce high-quality designs for our clients.

The position will involve regular collaboration with clients, project managers, civil engineers, and electrical engineers. The role will also include opportunities to train junior designers and engineers.

This role may be a fully remote position or a semi-remote role located near one of our hubs in the United States.

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, renewable engineering, or a closely related technical field. Master's degree an asset.
  • 5+ years of related work experience in the development, design, construction, commissioning, and/or operation of PV solar, BESS, or hybrid projects - must have independently completed a solar layout in a previous role.
  • Proficient in Pvsyst software.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of PV design concepts such as module technologies, single-axis trackers, fixed-tilt systems, power conversion equipment, string sizing, DC/AC ratio, GCR, etc.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects concurrently.
  • Ability to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team on a daily basis.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to project delivery with good organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Field experience considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism an asset.
  • Must be a US Citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
