Researcher Position at Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd.

We are seeking a highly skilled Researcher to join our team at Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new ideas and contributing to the synthesis of novel AI4Net and Net4AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing New Ideas: Design and implement innovative solutions to complex problems in AI and machine learning.
  • Implementing AI4Net and Net4AI Solutions: Develop and deploy efficient and scalable code for AI4Net and Net4AI solutions.
  • Conducting Experiments: Conduct experiments on large-scale data sets to verify and evaluate the implemented solutions.
  • Maintaining Codebase: Maintain the codebase and manage code deployment on distributed servers and/or mobile devices.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Keep track of the latest progresses in AI/ML areas, especially federated learning, distributed learning, knowledge distillation, knowledge editing, AI safety, and LLMs, as well as telecommunications.
  • Intellectual Properties: Contribute to the proposal of high-impact intellectual properties, publishing of research papers in top-tier AI/ML and communications/networking venues, and generating organized technical reports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with different research teams.
Requirements:
  • Education: A Ph.D. or a Master in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on Experience: Excellent knowledge with at least one deep learning architecture, e.g., Transformer, CNNs, RNNs, AEs.
  • Coding Skills: Strong coding skills in one of the popular programming languages, e.g., Python, C/C++, Java.
  • AI/ML Tools: Experience with AI/ML coding tools, e.g., Pytorch or Tensorflow.
  • Project Experience: Project experience on efficient AI models, training and inference, pruning, knowledge distillation, quantization, and LLMs, VLMs, and ViT is a huge asset.
  • Publications: Publications in top-tier AI/ML conferences are assets.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills, willingness to collaborate, and self-motivated.
