About the Role

Witt O'Brien's is seeking a highly skilled Senior Emergency Responder to join our team. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for executing scopes of work, providing daily field activity updates, and ensuring accurate documentation of all field and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute scopes of work under the direction of the project leader, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Document and provide daily field activity updates to the project leader, highlighting progress and any challenges faced.
  • Initiate field work and office tasks as assigned by the project leader, including site assessment, containment, and recovery tactics.
  • Operate under a unified command structure, adhering to the Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Complete all requested internal and external training courses and exercises, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to Ambipar Response performance initiatives and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date field data, ensuring no errors or discrepancies.
  • Ensure all field documentation, including safety forms, is uploaded to the appropriate folder on Box.net.
  • Communicate daily progress of assigned projects with the project leader, ensuring timely updates.
  • Provide site supervision and direction to contractors on site, ensuring efficient and effective project execution.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Remain current with environmental legislation and regulatory updates, reviewing all operations updates disseminated internally.
  • Ensure accurate completion of time and expense entries, submitting them at the end of each workday.
  • Conduct in-field training and mentoring, sign-off on direct report training forms for tasks deemed competent to train.
  • Complete internal task assignments within the budgeted framework, as requested by the project leader.
  • Accurately complete technical reports following approved templates, within the specified timeframe and budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Land reclamation, Agrology, or equivalent.
  • Maintain compliance with Ambipar and client safety training requirements.
  • Incident Command System - ICS100.
  • WCSS Spill Responder Series training - SR100, SR200, SR300, SR400.
  • Professional designation is considered an asset.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSEQ) Requirements

  • Review and adhere to company HSE policies and procedures, as directed by the HSE Manager.
  • Comply with policy, rules, standards, procedures, and practices.
  • Identify, document, and correct hazards as soon as observed.
  • Immediately report incidents, injuries/illnesses, near misses, and hazard IDs to supervisory personnel.
  • Use equipment and tools according to manufacturer's specifications and SOPs.
  • Know the location, type, and operation of emergency equipment and be familiar with site-specific emergency procedures.
  • Refuse to perform work that poses an imminent danger or refuse to perform work not qualified to perform.
  • Participate in workplace inspections, monthly office, vehicle, and PPE safety inspections, as directed by the HSE Manager.
  • Wear required PPE to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Adhere to all client safety policies, documentation requirements, and orientations.
  • Maintain compliance with HSE Tracker.
