Maintenance Operations Manager

Aspire Bakeries is a leading North American baking company with a strong presence in specialty frozen baked goods. Our innovative food portfolio includes a wide range of products such as breads, artisan breads, buns, cookies, donuts, muffins, and pastries from well-known brands like La Brea Bakery, Otis Spunkmeyer, and Oakrun Farm Bakery.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Maintenance Operations Manager. This role involves overseeing and optimizing maintenance operations within our bakery, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and providing troubleshooting support for unscheduled line shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and execute work orders, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with the planning team to meet production timelines and optimize maintenance schedules.
- Organize and execute PM priorities on a daily basis, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
- Provide troubleshooting and support for unscheduled line shutdowns, minimizing production losses and ensuring food safety.
- Manage and direct the work of on-site contractors, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain open communication with interdepartmental teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and information sharing.
- Attend regular production meetings and contribute to the development of maintenance strategies and plans.
- Liaise with the QA team to ensure food safety and quality standards are met.
- Develop and implement plans to motivate workers and achieve maintenance goals.
- Ensure reliable weekly startup of all production areas, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
- Estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Participate in the Food Safety Committee, ensuring compliance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
- Track and predict equipment failures, implementing improvement strategies to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Lead the team through troubleshooting breakdowns, downtime reports, and root cause fault analysis.
- Maintain and provide training records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Create a positive work environment, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork.
Qualifications:
- A Millwright or Electrician license to practice in Ontario or an Engineering degree/diploma is required.
- 5-7 years of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Certification as a Class B refrigeration operator would be an asset.
- Experience in food manufacturing is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Must be proactive and self-motivated with the ability to lead others.
- Proven trades experience in technical problem-solving and decision-making.
- Must be willing to pursue additional certification/licenses.
- The willingness to adapt to a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of Government regulations as they apply to OHSA.
- Knowledge of GMP's and HACCP.
