Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Associate Vice President, Clinical Operations to oversee strategic planning and operational management of key clinical services. This leadership position reports directly to the VP, Coastal Community of Care (CCoc) and plays a crucial role in ensuring the integration of health services across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the integration of acute and community health systems with a focus on client-centered care.
  • Establish a robust quality framework and governance model that is standardized across the CCoC.
  • Act as a representative for clinicians and patients regarding capital initiatives.
  • Engage and collaborate effectively with First Nations communities and Indigenous organizations.
  • Support a positive culture among staff and medical professionals, emphasizing quality and patient-centered care.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in clinical practice, preferably in nursing, and have advanced into a senior leadership position within a complex healthcare environment. You will possess the ability to integrate quality and safety initiatives across various care modalities, including urban, remote, and rural settings. Your leadership style is inclusive and empowering, with a proven track record of promoting equity and cultural safety for Indigenous populations and other marginalized groups. You will also have experience in co-leading with physician leadership, ensuring that clinical and administrative needs are aligned to enhance the quality of care.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or a related health discipline.
  • Over 15 years of relevant clinical practice and senior leadership experience in developing and evaluating service delivery systems.
  • Experience in leading significant service integration and change within a large academic healthcare setting.
  • Current registration with the appropriate professional College/Association, if applicable.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, promoting services with sensitivity to diversity.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals from equity-deserving groups and a commitment to inclusivity.
  • Demonstrated clinical and leadership experience in nursing or another recognized healthcare profession.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and effective working relationships that promote shared goals.
  • Proficient in conflict management and negotiation to lead change and resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of current trends in healthcare best practices, project management, and quality improvement.
  • Strong judgment in communicating sensitive information effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to anticipate changes in service delivery and develop strategies for optimal resource utilization.
  • Sound business acumen to manage fiscal resources responsibly in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Experience in developing and evaluating initiatives that support new or expanded services in a multi-site environment.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
