Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Screening Mammography Technologist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Medical Imaging department, you will be responsible for performing routine screening mammography procedures, observing safe radiation protection procedures, and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing routine screening mammography procedures, observing safe radiation protection procedures
  • Receiving and completing requisitions, entering relevant data into the Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures, operating computerized imaging equipment
  • Monitoring patient during procedures, monitoring equipment performance and maintaining cleanliness of examination rooms
  • Producing and developing mammograms according to program standards, referring problems regarding quality of images, work procedures or work flow to supervisor
  • Assisting program participants with completion of questionnaire, promoting education in the area of breast cancer and risk factors
  • Organizing films for radiologists to report, collecting reported films and either filing or arranging for filing
  • Maintaining designated work area, checking and cleaning equipment, setting up examination trays for specific procedures
  • Participating in maintaining patient and hospital records, participating in approved research and special projects
  • Participating in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs, maintaining equipment and performing other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
  • Successful completion of CAMRT Mammography 1 or equivalent
  • One year's recent, related experience in Mammography procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality, organization policies, procedures and standards of care
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others, plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques, computer skills with current computer applications, physical ability to perform the duties of the position
