Mammography Technologist

Job Summary
The Screening Mammography Technologist is a key member of the Fraser Health team, responsible for performing routine screening mammography procedures while adhering to safe radiation protection protocols. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving and completing requisitions, entering relevant data into the Radiology Information System (RIS)
- Preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures, operating computerized imaging equipment
- Monitoring patient during procedures, monitoring equipment performance, and maintaining cleanliness of examination rooms
- Producing and developing mammograms according to program standards, referring problems regarding quality of images to supervisor
- Assisting program participants with completion of questionnaire, promoting education in the area of breast cancer and risk factors
- Organizing films for radiologists to report, collecting reported films, and maintaining designated work area
- Participating in maintaining patient and hospital records, participating in the instruction and orientation of new employees and/or students
- Performing a variety of clerical duties, participating in approved research and special projects, and participating in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs
Qualifications
- Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
- Successful completion of CAMRT Mammography 1 or equivalent
- One year's recent, related experience in Mammography procedures
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality
- Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, and other health care staff
