Lead a Team of Estimators in Major Infrastructure Projects

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Estimating Lead to join our team at PTAG. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of cost estimators and ensuring that robust and realistic cost estimates are developed for major infrastructure projects.

About the Role
  • You will lead a team of cost estimators in developing and implementing project estimating procedures, systems, and tools.
  • You will review and sign off on project cost estimates as part of the stage gate process.
  • You will design training programs to enable project adoption within the major projects.
  • You will ensure that the project scope is covered and that there is alignment between the cost estimate, the project schedule, and execution strategy.
  • You will participate actively in the Quantitative Risk Assessment to support the integrated cost and schedule contingency process.
  • You will validate cost estimates using personal and industry experience, identifying potential out of range values and then finding their potential causes and applying corrective actions when necessary.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant business or engineering discipline, with 15 years of experience on major infrastructure projects (values greater than $1B) would be a minimum to ensure that the senior estimator can manage large team of project consultants and interface with contractors' highly sophisticated estimating team.
  • You require sufficient depth in cost estimating expertise to develop best practice procedures, be credible when reviewing sophisticated estimates developed by others, including bids and claims submitted by contractors.
  • You must have excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing including letter, report writing and presentation skills. Ability to explain difficult concepts and persuade others to adopt a point of view or way of doing things.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain respectful working relationships with internal and external contacts under circumstances that are considerably complex and time sensitive. Skill in dealing openly, tactfully and sensitively in a variety of situations including dealings with the public, member municipalities, government agencies and contractors. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented work environment and deal effectively with disagreements and prevent the escalation of conflict.
  • You must be able to work under broad direction and use significant independent judgment to problem solve when more than one option is possible. Proven ability to take initiative, work with minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to meet timelines and objectives requiring persistence to overcome obstacles.
  • You must also have proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project. Experience using advance analytic tools such as Power BI would be an asset.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $150,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, PTAG offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a Company Share Owner Program, which allows employees to participate in the company's success.
