Job Summary


The ideal candidate will have 15 years of experience on major infrastructure projects (values greater than $1B) and possess a Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant business or engineering discipline. This role requires a senior estimator who can manage a large team of project consultants and interface with contractors' sophisticated estimating teams.


Responsibilities:



  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Cost Estimating and lead the development, implementation, communication, and training of Project Estimating procedures, systems, and tools.
  • Ensure robust, realistic, and well-documented cost estimates are developed going forward on all projects and developed by qualified cost estimators.
  • Review and sign off on project cost estimates as part of the stage gate process.
  • Design training programs to enable project adoption within the major projects.
  • Participate actively in the Quantitative Risk Assessment to support the integrated cost and schedule contingency process.
  • Validate cost estimates using personal and industry experience, identifying potential out-of-range values and applying corrective actions when necessary.
  • Review contractor prices at bid, during negotiation, and on high-value claims.

Requirements:



  • A minimum of 15 years of experience on major infrastructure projects (values greater than $1B).
  • Sufficient depth in cost estimating expertise to develop best practice procedures and be credible when reviewing sophisticated estimates developed by others.
  • Presentation skills to communicate complex concepts and persuade others, either internally or in high-value claim negotiations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain respectful working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work under broad direction and use significant independent judgment to problem-solve.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver's license.

Salary Information
