Job Title: Forest Operations Technologist

Overview

Vertex is seeking a highly skilled Forest Operations Technologist to join our team. This role will be responsible for conducting forest operational and planning field work throughout Central and Northern Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct GPS field data capture and survey
  • Utilize GIS mapping capabilities and proficiency
  • Classify water courses and identify 3rd party crossings
  • Assess hazard trees and patrol utility lines in remote locations
  • Prepare technical reports and regulatory applications
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with up to 10-day field shifts

Requirements

  • 0-3 years' experience in forest operations and planning
  • Professional designation in Alberta or eligibility as a RPFT is preferred
  • Field experience in wildlife sweeps, surveys, watercourse, and wetland assessments is preferred
  • Familiarity with Public Lands Act, Water Act, Wildlife Act, GoA, and AER applications is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and time effectively
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
