Geriatric Psychiatrist Opportunity

The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry at Island Health is seeking a part-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to provide consultation services to outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide geriatric psychiatry consultation to outpatient services at the Senior's Outpatient Clinic (SOPC) at Royal Jubilee Hospital
  • Support for the Esquimalt Westshore Health Unit (EWHU) and consultation at several Long Term Care Facilities
  • Opportunities to provide Telehealth consultation to other island communities
  • Participation in the Geriatric Psychiatry call rotation

Working Environment:

The Division enjoys collegial relationships with Island Health's geriatric medicine, adult psychiatry, and hospitalist services. Inpatient services and outpatient clinics are supported by interdisciplinary teams.

Professional Development:

As Island Health is part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine Island Medical Program, there is opportunity for training of medical students and residents. Applying for a clinical appointment is expected.

Research Opportunities:

Participation in research is strongly encouraged and facilitated by Island Health.
