What is the opportunity?

We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented students to join our team as Quality Engineering Co-ops or Automation Co-ops at the Royal Bank of Canada. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic business environment and contribute to the development of automated test plans and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of automated test plans and solutions to meet clients' growing needs for automation and enhancing process controls and governance.
  • Create plans for, update, and execute QA testing.
  • Support programming testing tools for internal use.
  • Maintain and provide accurate testing status reports during testing phases.
  • Maintain documentation of test results according to defined tools.
  • Support upgrades to the testing environment.
  • Automate reporting processes by using the combination of tools of Blue Prism, VBA, and SQL.
  • Apply data warehouse concepts and methodologies to various projects.
  • Confirm that projects adhere to development standards and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on computer science, technology, or engineering.
  • Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge.
  • Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong systematic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of QA methods, testing approaches, frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Experience in SQL and/or VBA.
  • Knowledge of design, development, and implementation utilizing current analytics technologies and architecture, as well as data warehouse concepts and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automation expertise (Blue Prism, etc.) and experience using BI tools including Tableau, Elastic.
  • Prior experience in data integration of disparate data sources.
  • Relational database concepts and design experience.
