Job Summary

The Major Projects Engineer is a key member of the Major Projects Branch, responsible for delivering high-priority, large-scale capital projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to project staff, including professional engineers and other technical staff.
  • Manage and coordinate project deliverables, including procurement, regulatory approvals, land acquisition, engineering, design, and construction.
  • Oversee project financial management, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including project teams, contractors, and government agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and departmental policies, including the Highway Traffic Act, Highway Protection Act, and Workplace Health & Safety Act.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba (EGM).
  • Extensive experience in project management, including design and construction, contract management, and managing interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong planning, research, and analytical skills to identify and integrate relevant information.
  • Excellent consultation, negotiation, and conflict management skills to deal effectively with complex and sensitive issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with project management software.
