Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce laws and regulations on University property, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including incidents of crime, medical emergencies, and other safety concerns.
  • Conduct regular patrols of University property, including buildings, parking lots, and surrounding areas.
  • Investigate incidents and gather evidence, as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff, responding to their safety and security concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Collaborate with other emergency services, including police and fire departments, as needed.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized Police College or Academy, or a diploma from a recognized Community College Law Enforcement/Police Foundations two-year program or equivalent education and experience.
  • Current standard level of first aid certification and current basic rescuer level CPR.
  • Valid Ontario G class Driver's License or higher and acceptable driving history.
  • Previous experience in a police and/or security environment, an asset.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime, as required.
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills, including proven success in mediation of sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make necessary decisions while under pressure and in the face of uncertainty.
