About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our Controllership team at Lyft. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day controllership duties, as well as contributing to project-based initiatives that aim to scale our accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage and oversee the revenue cycle, including collectibles, deferred revenues, and compliance with revenue recognition policies.
  2. Maintain relationships with EDC, joint ventures, and tax business partners; manage related quarterly entries and processes.
  3. Assist in reviewing and preparing financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  4. Plan and execute accounting processes according to monthly close calendar timelines.
  5. Collaborate with Finance and other business partners for information gathering and advising on accounting considerations, including streamlining accounting transactions for new business areas.
  6. Support the reporting process, including gathering financial data for SEC document disclosures and external audit support.
  7. Develop and implement scalable accounting processes for accurate financial reporting and SOX compliance.
  8. Actively participate in system implementations and integration activities.
  9. Prepare government reports and assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed.
  10. Perform special projects and ad-hoc tasks in Accounting/Finance.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • 5-6 years of Accounting experience, including Big 4 and manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and Revenue Recognition principles.
  • Proactive, independent worker with excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in accounting research, problem-solving, and multitasking.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual (English and French); Ability to communicate effectively in English for dealing with English-speaking colleagues outside Quebec.
