Casual Sign Language Interpreter Opportunity
The School District #41 (Burnaby) is seeking a Casual Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between deaf, hard of hearing and hearing students and staff.
This role will involve providing interpreting services in school and community settings, primarily as a staff interpreter for administrative processes.
To be considered, candidates must have:
- successfully completed an interpreter training program
- possess fluency in American Sign Language
- active membership of WAVLI (Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters)
- two year related interpreting experience
Experience working in an educational setting is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services in a variety of settings
- Collaborate with staff and students to ensure effective communication
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
