Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Miller Paving Limited. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery and equipment to perform various tasks related to road construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, graders, and excavators to perform tasks such as excavation, grading, and hauling materials.
  • Clean and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Measure distance, volume, length, and weight to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Operate computer-controlled equipment and understand the purpose, proper usage, and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS).
  • Complete onboard and other logs to track progress and maintain records.
  • Prepare accident reports and secure special attachments to equipment as needed.
  • Operate GPS and other navigation equipment to ensure accurate navigation and tracking.
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment to stay in touch with team members.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Operate hydraulic pumping systems and read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and physical demands.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
