Nurse Specialist

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at Vancouver General Hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill clients with unpredictable outcomes, utilizing life-support equipment and post-anaesthetic recovery techniques.
- Enhance the quality of life for clients and their families, focusing on their unique needs and perspectives.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care, leveraging expertise and knowledge to drive positive outcomes.
- Develop and maintain clinical competence, staying up-to-date with the latest best practices and research in critical care nursing.
- Participate in hospital committees and research projects, contributing to the advancement of nursing practice and patient care.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or two years' recent, related critical care experience.
- Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centered model of care.
- Thorough knowledge of BCCNM standards for nursing practice.
- Expertise in the use of anaesthetic and other drugs in critical care environments.
- Ability to assess and manage critical and life-threatening situations, responding promptly and effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
