Public Engagement Manager

International Association for Public Participation British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled individual to fill the role of Public Engagement Manager. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our communications and community engagement strategy.
About the RoleThis role requires someone with extensive experience in managing communications and community engagement initiatives. You will work closely with our team to develop strategies that promote public participation and engagement. Your goal will be to create a positive and inclusive environment that fosters open communication and collaboration between our organization and the community we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and community engagement strategy
- Provide expert advice on communications and community engagement to management and staff
- Liaise with other managers to ensure effective integration of communications materials
- Analyze emerging operational issues and provide guidance on issues management and communications plans
- Manage communications and community engagement staff and provide direction and guidance
- Conduct investigations and administer discipline as necessary
- Host regular meetings to discuss departmental goals and objectives
- Provide direction and guidance to external consultants related to marketing and communications projects
- Develop, refine, update, and implement the communications and community engagement strategy
- Plan city-wide communications and community engagement activities
- Build connections and collaborate with other managers and staff on City advertising, media releases, and digital communications
- Research and write complex materials while ensuring they meet corporate standards and messaging
- Administer and monitor communication budgets
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide communications expertise and support as a member of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and liaise with the City's Emergency Management Team and Public Affairs Department
