Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Supply Chain Specialist to join our team at Safariland Group. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, supplies, and equipment used by our company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full range of assigned tasks with discretion and independent judgment, exercising established guidelines.
  • Review purchase requisitions for completeness, authorizations, and available funds, evaluating procurement methods and determining specification requirements.
  • Secure and compare information on source of supply, price, quality, availability, terms, and conditions for various materials, supplies, services, and equipment.
  • Minimize the number of Goods-in-Transit (GWTs) between plants by ensuring materials arrive at the correct plant when required according to Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Issue purchase orders to procure designated commodities and equipment, preparing revisions when requirements change or costs exceed original orders.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to allow for internal visibility of material status and visibility to purchasing on-time delivery.
  • Monitor contracts and orders, expediting delivery and comparing invoices to purchase orders, reconciling discrepancies.
  • Escalate disputes, delivery dates, material shortages, and other issues to the Strategic Supply Specialist for resolution.
  • Explain policies and procedures to individuals needing to procure materials, services, and supplies, ensuring compliance with purchasing policies and procedures approved by the Strategic Supply Chain Manager.
  • Travel is required.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a degree/diploma from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, commerce, materials management, or a related field.
  • Certificate: Possession of a Certified Purchasing Professional or Certified in Production and Inventory Management is desirable.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a buyer.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of purchasing in the private sector, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Previous experience procuring materials, equipment, and supplies commonly used in electronics and soft-goods manufacturing, sources of supply, marketing practices, and pricing methods.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to buy items of the right quantity and quality, at the right price, at the right time from the right source, clearly and accurately express needs of Med-Eng to wide spectrum of vendors.
