We are seeking an accomplished patent attorney with a strong technical background to support our innovative biotech projects.

About the Job

This role involves working closely with research and manufacturing teams to identify new opportunities for intellectual property protection. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and filing priority applications, identifying supporting data, and assisting in the prosecution of international and national/regional applications.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field such as immunology, cell or protein engineering, or cancer therapy. Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for proactive work are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise directly with research and manufacturing teams to identify new opportunities for IP protection
  • Draft and file new priority applications
  • Identify potential supporting data during the priority year and collaborate with the research and manufacturing teams to generate such data
  • Assist in the filing and prosecution of International and national/regional applications
  • Instruct Freedom to Operate searches and assist in analyzing the output
  • Conduct regular EP and US watches on third-party patent applications
  • Input information and documents into the case management system
  • Review and comment on documents cited in prior art searches
  • Assist in preparing sequence listings and formal drawings, where practical
  • Perform other duties as required following consultation with the Head of IP

Estimated Annual Salary: £80,000 - £120,000

Requirements and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A PhD in a relevant field such as immunology, cell or protein engineering, or cancer therapy
  • A few years of post-qualification experience as a patent attorney
  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise in patent law
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to work
