Job Summary

The Meadow Lake Tribal Council is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Mental Health Counsellor to provide mental health counselling services to our children and youth.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with children and youth by deeply listening to their stories, slowly building trust, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Guide children and youth in the development of skills and strategies to deal with their issues, providing therapy individually or in group settings as needed.
  • Meet with families, child and family services representatives, and other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  • Plan, organize, and lead structured programs of counseling, work/study, recreation, health, and interest/skill or social activities for children and youth.
  • Gather and become informed about community wellness/mental health and addictions needs and the community or regional resources that could be used in conjunction with mental health therapy services.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mental Health and Wellness, Social Work, or Psychology.
  • ASIST and related training is an asset.
  • Experience in First Nations Health Services.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing mental health therapy services.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel.
Requirements
  • Letter of Application.
  • Copies of Credentials.
  • Current CPIC Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector.
