The Meadow Lake Tribal Council is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Mental Health Counsellor to provide mental health counselling services to our children and youth.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities- Establish therapeutic relationships with children and youth by deeply listening to their stories, slowly building trust, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Guide children and youth in the development of skills and strategies to deal with their issues, providing therapy individually or in group settings as needed.
- Meet with families, child and family services representatives, and other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
- Plan, organize, and lead structured programs of counseling, work/study, recreation, health, and interest/skill or social activities for children and youth.
- Gather and become informed about community wellness/mental health and addictions needs and the community or regional resources that could be used in conjunction with mental health therapy services.
- Master's degree in Mental Health and Wellness, Social Work, or Psychology.
- ASIST and related training is an asset.
- Experience in First Nations Health Services.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience providing mental health therapy services.
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel.
- Letter of Application.
- Copies of Credentials.
- Current CPIC Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector.
