Financial Analyst

Empire Life is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to join our Insurance Finance team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on meaningful projects that have a positive impact on our customers, company, and society.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing daily production and cheque balancing, resolving routine issues and escalating complex issues for management's attention
  • Compiling data from various sources and accurately recording activity in the company's accounting and investment information systems to support timely report preparation
  • Completing complex bank and account reconciliations, collaborating with other departments to follow up on discrepancies and other outstanding items
  • Supporting the cash management function to ensure accurate cash reporting, and adequate cash positions
  • Supporting and coordinating corporate banking services and accounts payable processes ensuring all disbursements are made in an accurate, timely and controlled manner
  • Responding to inquiries from other business units and explaining corporate policies and procedures
  • Participating in projects and initiatives as assigned
  • Providing back up to the team and support other business units as required

Requirements

  • Ability to think logically, analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to collaborate and build relationships
  • 2-3 + years of accounting, accounts payable or reconciliation experience
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree with courses in business, accounting or finance
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel competency
