Job DescriptionThis role involves working as a member of the neurosurgery clinical team, supporting the provision of quality care to inpatients across the organization. The Associate Physician (AP) will work under the supervision of the Most Responsible Provider (MRP) on a day-to-day basis and be accountable to the Local Division Head of Neurosurgery for the overall provision of care and professional development.
Responsibilities:- Participate in patient rounds under the supervision of the Attending physician and other care team members.
- Assess the day-to-day care of patients, including writing medical orders, consulting with other services, and responding to changing patient conditions, in consultation with attending staff.
- Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliation as per CPSBC and organizational standards, policies, and guidelines.
- Develop treatment plans in response to changing patient conditions, where appropriate and in consultation with attending staff.
- Follow through on investigations and consult with the Attending staff.
- Communicate with nursing staff and other care team members regarding patient care plans.
- A medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
- A minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist, verified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.
- Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
- Valid Canadian Citizenship, permanent residency, or legal ability to live and work in British Columbia.
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in the Associate Physician class, under sponsorship by Fraser Health Authority.
- Proficiency in the English language as established by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
$150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience.
