Job Title: Personal Support Worker

Spectrum Health Care is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker to join our team. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing personal care and support to our patients, enabling them to recover safely from an acute illness or remain in their homes throughout the aging process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, skincare, and light meal preparation, in personal residences or facilities.
  • Continuously assess, anticipate, and respond to new and changing needs of patients, communicating available resources to patients when appropriate.
  • Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
  • Travel within assigned regions between patients' residences or facilities.
Qualifications:
  • Hold one of the following qualifications: a valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program, a RN/RPN Student with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program, or an Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician.
  • Hold a G2/G License with access to a vehicle.
  • Meet the physical demands of the job, including the ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach freely for extended periods, and the ability to lift 23 kg independently.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service.
  • Hold a valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • Hold a valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check.
  • Have an updated immunization record, including a TB Test within the last 6 months.
  • Be proficient in verbal and written English communication skills, with additional language skills considered an asset.
