About the Role

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is seeking an experienced Aviation Legal Professional to join its Legal Services and Corporate Secretary Group (LSCS). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to advance the work of the Legal Advocacy Workstream and its internal clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing independent legal advice on diverse substantive and procedural questions of considerable complexity, on matters relating to IATA's advocacy or policy activities.
  • Drafting and advising on agreements, contracts, instruments, governance documents, and policies in the context of IATA's advocacy or policy activities.
  • Responding to requests for legal assistance from internal clients and work assignments referred by other members of the team.
  • Collaborating with other team members on legal issues across the LSCS Workstreams and keeping a professional record of work and advice using the LSCS matter management system.
  • Developing and delivering training and guidance material for IATA staff on various legal topics.

Requirements

  • A degree in law (LLB, JD) from an internationally recognized university (an LLM or other advanced degree in a relevant legal specialization is a plus).
  • Admission in a relevant jurisdiction, preferably the UK, EU Member State, Canada, United States, Australia or New Zealand.
  • Minimum five years post-qualification experience in an organization, government department or law firm preferably in the aviation legal sector.
  • Professional client relationship skills.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong legal research skills.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Good organizational and project management skills and experience.
