About the Team You'll Be Joining
The Legal Advocacy Workstream is part of the Legal Services and Corporate Secretary Group (LSCS), which provides legal support across IATA's operations, business and advocacy activities.
This team is made up of legal professionals qualified in various jurisdictions, working together to advance IATA's advocacy and policy activities. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for providing independent legal advice and support to internal clients.
What Your Day Would Look Like
You will work closely with the Director Legal Services, Legal Advocacy Workstream, to prepare and provide legal opinions, memoranda and information papers on questions concerning the interpretation or application of law, legal instruments or legal principles in relation to IATA's advocacy or policy activities.
You will also draft responses to correspondence and communication raising legal issues or having legal implications, as well as agreements, contracts, instruments, governance documents and policies in the context of IATA's advocacy or policy activities.
In addition, you will collaborate with other team members on legal issues across the LSCS Workstreams, develop and deliver training and guidance material for IATA staff on various legal topics, and update legal databases.
Your Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in law (LLB, JD) from an internationally recognized university;
- Admission in a relevant jurisdiction, preferably the UK, EU Member State, Canada, United States, Australia or New Zealand;
- Minimum five years post-qualification experience in an organization, government department or law firm preferably in the aviation legal sector;
- Professional client relationship skills;
- Excellent command of English;
- Superior written and oral communication skills;
- Strong legal research skills;
- Strong technical skills;
- Good organizational and project management skills and experience.
