The Chief Operations Engineer is responsible for overseeing the hotel's engineering and maintenance operations to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and staff. This role involves planning, project management, budgeting, and leading a team of skilled professionals.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership
- Provide Strategic Guidance to the engineering and maintenance team.
- Develop and Implement departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Foster a Positive Work Environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.
Project Management
- Oversee and Manage renovation projects within the hotel, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.
- Develop and Manage budgets for engineering and maintenance projects, prioritizing cost-effectiveness and quality.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Develop and Implement preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and facilities, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
- Respond Promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, providing timely solutions and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Coordinate with External Contractors for specialized repairs, ensuring seamless execution and quality results.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure Compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Conduct Regular Inspections to identify areas requiring maintenance or improvement, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Energy Management
- Implement Energy-Efficient Practices to reduce operational costs and minimize the hotel's environmental footprint.
- Evaluate and Recommend new technologies for energy conservation, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
Staff Development
- Recruit, Train, and Supervise engineering and maintenance staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
- Conduct Regular Performance Evaluations and provide constructive feedback, helping team members grow and develop in their roles.
- Develop Training Programs to enhance the skills of the team, staying ahead of industry trends and best practices.
Budget Management
- Prepare and Manage the departmental budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Control Costs while maintaining high-quality standards, optimizing resources and minimizing waste.
Collaboration
- Work Closely with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations, fostering a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing Department to source materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven Experience in a similar role within the luxury hospitality industry, demonstrating expertise and leadership skills.
- Strong Leadership and Managerial Skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Excellent Problem-Solving Abilities, with a focus on creative and effective solutions.
- Knowledge of Building Systems, Codes, H&S, and Regulations, ensuring compliance and safety.
- Familiarity with Energy Management Practices, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
- Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively.
