Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to support our client's financial operations in a temporary capacity. The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis, with excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Close and Operations

  • Support the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements, including the review and proposal of accruals and entries for completeness of the ledger.
  • Investigate and reconcile general ledger variances, and analyze month-end and quarter-end balance sheet and income statement activity.

Financial Process Improvement (Treasury, Vendor Management)

  • Collaborate with business partners to monitor and continuously improve financial processes, and investigate and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Review and analyze weekly liquidity forecasts, bank charge analysis, and quarterly investment reports.
  • Monitor account reconciliations for aged items, and assist with investigation and resolution.
  • Review existing processes for efficiency improvements and drive automation.

Regulatory Reporting

  • Support the preparation and submission of OSFI Reinsurance filings.
  • Partner with the Risk Management team to research, review, and implement OSFI Guidelines and update the Risk Management Framework.

Business Partnering and Financial Analysis on Projects

  • Support the analysis and reporting of IFRS 17, including accounting policies, data validation, and reconciliation.
  • Prepare presentation materials for leadership review.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Professional designation or working towards a professional designation.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills and effective communication.
  • Deadline-driven, with strong attention to detail and efficiency-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards, including US GAAP and IFRS.
