Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced deputy editor to join our esteemed personal finance and investing team at The Globe and Mail. This key role will focus on expanding our retirement and financial planning coverage, working closely with the Personal Finance and Investing Editor to manage the wider team.

Our readers rely on us for guidance on securing their financial futures. We aim to provide comprehensive, long-term financial planning advice for all audiences, regardless of age or financial situation. This opportunity allows you to shape The Globe and Mail's coverage in critical areas driving subscriptions and retention.

The deputy editor will develop a network of freelance columnists and contributors to enhance our retirement coverage. They will also oversee a team of reporters covering retirement and related beats, guiding them to produce engaging, informative content. Key responsibilities include finding and managing new columnists focused on retirement issues, assigning staff writers to cover retirement and related topics, collaborating with colleagues to create interactive tools and features, and utilizing audience data to inform coverage and topic areas.

Qualifications and Skills: To be successful in this role, you will need at least five years of editing and assigning experience, a proven track record of cultivating new writers, and the ability to think creatively beyond traditional storytelling formats. You should be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and teams to develop innovative solutions.
