Deputy Editor, Personal Finance

The Globe and Mail is a leading Canadian media brand, and we're seeking a skilled Deputy Editor to join our Personal Finance and Investing team. As a key member of our editorial team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping our coverage of retirement and financial planning, helping our readers make informed decisions about their financial futures.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage a team of freelance columnists and contributors to expand our retirement coverage
  • Assign staff writers on retirement and related topics, ensuring high-quality content that meets our readers' needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the department and wider newsroom to develop new tools, features, explainers, and interactives to aid readers in their financial planning
  • Use audience data to inform coverage and topic areas, ensuring our content resonates with our readers
Qualifications:
  • At least five years of previous editing and assigning experience
  • Experience cultivating new writers with an eye to diversifying our contributors
  • Ability to think beyond standard storytelling formats and assist in developing new tools and interactives
