Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Paladin Security. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our clients and their properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct proactive and reactive security patrols to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Provide leadership and direction to security personnel, including coaching and training to ensure they are equipped to handle various security situations.
  • Ensure all standing orders and scheduled daily activities are carried out as required for each shift.
  • Investigate security incidents and complaints, documenting and reporting findings as necessary.
  • Communicate with clients and other stakeholders to ensure effective security operations.
  • Manage events and organization leading up to events, ensuring security measures are in place to protect people and property.
  • Coordinate and oversee extra coverage requirements with Paladin Security's head office.
  • Develop and maintain a training program for security personnel, including site post orders and recertification training.
  • Research and develop additional training and education to enhance security personnel's skills and knowledge.
  • Implement a standardized evaluation process to assess security personnel's performance.
  • Attend security team meetings and ensure security personnel receive all pertinent information.
  • Respond to questions and concerns from security personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure performance matrix standards are met, conducting quality control checks as necessary.
  • Coordinate case management of investigations, working with clients and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Develop educational awareness programs to promote security best practices.
  • Maintain security application databases and administer software as required.
  • Participate in committees and liaise with police and other agencies as necessary.
  • Provide statistical analysis and support to security operations.
  • Manage key control and auditing, working with clients and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Track and follow up on incident reports, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Be an accurate and dependable resource, providing knowledge and support to clients and security personnel.
  • Be able to comprehend and demonstrate competencies of Paladin Security and security policies and procedures, using a customer service approach.
  • Be attentive to the needs of clients and security personnel, building relationships and providing support as needed.
  • Be able to keep an open and objective mind, considering the diverse needs of clients and security personnel.
  • Encourage a safe and supportive environment, promoting security best practices.
  • Assist clients and security personnel during crises, contacting emergency services as needed.
  • Frequently inspect facilities for damage and report to management.
  • Ensure properties are safe by ensuring all security measures are functioning properly.
Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of security experience in a municipal government or corporate environment.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A customer service-oriented attitude.
  • A valid Security License for the Province of Ontario.
  • A current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • A current NVCI certification.
  • A valid Use of Force certification.
  • Physical demands include excessive walking, standing, exposure to all weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to patrol assigned areas on foot or by bicycle.
  • Utilize two-way radio and computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Bilingual and multilingual applicants are preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of Perspective reporting software is an asset.
  • Previous knowledge of C-Cure/S2 access control software is an asset.
  • Must participate in professional development and on-site leveling system requirements.
  • SafeTalk and ASIST training is an asset.
  • Must be flexible with shift availability, as security operates 24 hours a day.
  • Previous experience or training within a loss prevention/security field is preferred.
  • Must complete all required site training within 30 days of on-site hire date.
