Job Description

As an Addiction Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be working in the Intensive Care Management team in Powell River, BC. Your primary responsibility will be to provide direct nursing care and supportive counseling to clients who are in the process of detoxification, stabilization and/or transitioning into other long-term care addiction services.

You will work effectively with challenging clients to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff, while collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources and other health professionals and care providers from multi-jurisdictional sectors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centred model of care.
  • Knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally-safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
