Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced English Language Learning Teacher to join our team at School District #20 (Kootenay-Columbia) on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and supporting English language learners in our district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English language learners in a supportive and inclusive environment
  • Develop and implement instructional plans to meet the needs of English language learners
  • Assess and evaluate the English language proficiency levels of students
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to support English language learners
  • Model and demonstrate effective teaching strategies and techniques for staff to use in regular classrooms
Requirements
  • BC Certification
  • Bachelor of Education
  • Significant coursework and/or certification in teaching strategies for English language learners
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and ability to select appropriate materials and equipment for English language learners
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous successful experience teaching at the elementary level
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of the renewed curriculum, including the learning and core competencies and appropriate resources
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of instructional and assessment strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate appropriate technologies into educational programs
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $58,579 to $108,088, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
