Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Attendant to join our team at Seasons Retirement Communities. As a Care Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents with dementia and cognitive impairment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centered care services to residents, including medication administration, ensuring professionalism, dignity, and compassion in every interaction.
  • Follow infection control measures to enhance the safety and well-being of residents and staff.
  • Assist with activity programs, housekeeping tasks, and laundry as assigned.
  • Respond to resident medical, physical, and emotional needs in collaboration with the Memory Care Manager and Health and Wellness Manager.
  • Perform set-up, serving, and tear-down services for daily meal services, and assist residents with walking to and from the dining room and eating.
  • Promote and support a person-centered approach to care and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with residents and coworkers.
  • Complete all necessary education requirements in a timely manner as required.

Requirements:

  • Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Current Safe Food Handler's certification.
  • Enrolled in the Alberta Health Care Aide (HCA) Directory (applicable to Alberta applicants only).
  • Empathy and compassion for the needs of the elderly, with a specific focus on individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, following written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize workload throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents, team members, and guests.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment is considered an asset (blood pressure machine, oximeter, glucometer) and/or the ability to learn these skills with training.
  • Previous experience providing personal care in a healthcare environment is preferred.
