Pathology Specialist

Cape Breton Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time pathologist to join the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The successful candidate will undertake clinical responsibilities in surgical pathology, autopsies, and cytopathology services. The department handles over 15,000 surgical pathology specimens, 35-40 autopsies, and 16,000 cytopathology specimens annually.
Responsibilities- Work a full scope of practice as a pathologist.
- Perform autopsies and biopsies.
- Assess pathology specimens and cytopathology specimens.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
- Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
- Canadian certification in anatomical or general pathology is considered an asset.
The hospital is a four-hospital complex that serves over 100,000 patients annually. It provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs.
