Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Associate to join our Inpatient Clinical Care team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in patient rounds and assessments under the supervision of attending physicians and residents.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with attending staff.
  • Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliation.
  • Provide medical and surgical consultations for inpatients and patients referred to the ER under the supervision of attending physicians or surgeons.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Perform procedures within the scope of their demonstrated competence, including phlebotomy, wound assessment, and insertion/removal of central venous catheters.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and professional development activities to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
  • Minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist, verified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
  • Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
  • Meet the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia's English language proficiency requirements.
  • Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in the Physician Associate class, under sponsorship by Providence Health Care.
  • Canadian Citizenship, permanent residency, or legally able to live and work in British Columbia.
