About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Defence Legal Assistant to join our team at Kent Legal. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative legal support to our lawyers, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to lawyers, including monitoring deadlines and maintaining accurate records
  • Transcribe, prepare, and revise legal documents, contracts, and correspondence
  • Manage and maintain legal files, including opening, closing, and updating files as necessary
  • Schedule examinations for discovery, motions, and mediations, and communicate with clients and court representatives
  • Assist with docketing, timesheets, and billing cycle coordination
  • Post bills on our clients' e-billing platform and update lawyer calendars
  • Fax, scan, photocopy, and bind documents as required
  • Communicate with clerks and lawyers to ensure accurate coding and descriptions in dockets

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience as a Legal Assistant/Law Clerk in an Insurance Defence role
  • Legal Assistant Certificate or Law Clerk diploma from an accredited institution
  • Solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Ability to work well in a team and with minimal supervision when required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, interpersonal, and time management skills
