Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist II to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will play a key role in the coordination of occupational therapy and allied health clinical services within a program or service area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision to students and team members as assigned.
  • Work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.
  • Make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitor care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits, and providing follow-up and feedback to staff.
  • Participate in program development and operational planning and represent the department on committees or programs.
  • Make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.
  • Carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate in your program or service area.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
