Job Summary:

The Brake Development Lab (BDL) is a key component of the Engineering Systems Development – Chassis / Body-in-White (ESD – CBIW) department at RGBSI. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Brake Development Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise activities in the BDL, ensuring efficient operation of brake-end dynos and full-size chassis dynos.
  • Manage test setup, data analysis, and reporting for brake system testing.
  • Supervise unionized personnel, focusing on safety, environmental, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct data analysis using the Laser Vibrometer and Caliper Test Stand.
  • Participate in departmental activities, including vacation coverage for the Corrosion Teardown lab.

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of vehicle suspension and braking systems.
  • Proficiency in Team Center and NX software.
  • Experience with Link ProLink software suite.
  • Previous experience using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and VBA.
  • Excellent time management, leadership, planning, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of engineering experience in a testing environment within the automotive industry.
  • Supervisory experience, with a focus on leading unionized personnel.
  • Ability to work in a unionized environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Education:

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering.

Additional Requirements:

  • Test lab experience.
  • Knowledge of brake systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience.
  • % onsite.
  • No driving a company vehicle.
  • Amount of travel: % to Auburn Hills and suppliers.
