Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team. As a Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for the production and cooking of food for Patient Food Services. You will ensure the quality of food throughout the preparation, cooking, and serving process, following standardized recipes and proper portion control.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food for patient meals, following standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Monitor food quality throughout the preparation, cooking, and serving process.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all work areas, refrigerators, blast chiller, and other equipment.
  • Ensure proper food handling and sanitation procedures are followed while working in all production and service areas.
  • Monitor temperatures throughout all preparation and cooking processes in conjunction with HACCP guidelines.

Requirements

  • 1-2 year Culinary College Diploma required.
  • Food Service experience required.
  • Food Handler's Certification required.
  • Knowledge of industrial cooking equipment required.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS + HACCP regulations required.
  • Experience with large-scale meal production and bulk food assembly required.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and multiple production responsibilities.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.

Working Conditions

Hours: Monday-Sunday; days, hour shifts; 09:30 - 17:30, every other weekend (hours subject to change based on operational requirements)
