We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a key member of our food services team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our residents.
Key Responsibilities- Review and implement regular and therapeutic menus, ensuring that meals are prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare and cook meals, including evening meals, following standardized recipes and production sheets.
- Ensure that meals are served at the correct temperature and in portion-controlled quantities.
- Monitor and maintain the quality and quantity of food supplies, as well as the proper operation of kitchen equipment.
- Direct and supervise Dietary Aides in food preparation and serving activities.
- Maintain accurate records of menu changes, delivery receipts, and temperature checks.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in large quantity institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
- Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma preferred.
- Red Seal Cook Trade Certification (preferred).
- Safe Food Handling Certificate provided by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (within the past 3 months).
- Ability to read and write English, and understand moderately complex verbal and written instructions.
- Proven ability to provide direction and lead others in a fast-paced environment.
This is a part-time position that requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate must be able to work safely and follow established safety practices and procedures.
