Job Title: Director, Learning & Development

At Vancouver Airport Authority, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Learning & Development to lead and oversee all aspects of learning and development initiatives within our organization.

Job Summary:

The Director, Learning & Development will be responsible for developing and implementing corporate learning strategies aligned with our goals, designing and delivering employee development programs, fostering leadership development, and managing the employee onboarding program (YVR Arrivals). This role will create a culture of continuous learning and growth, ensuring that employees have the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to contribute effectively to our success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and inspire a team of learning and development professionals, allocate responsibilities, and set clear performance expectations. Foster an inclusive and diverse team environment that values teamwork and professional growth.
  • Strategic Leadership and Direction: Lead the alignment of learning and development initiatives with our goals, develop and implement learning frameworks that foster continuous improvement, conduct needs assessments and gap analysis to identify learning priorities, evaluate program effectiveness, and make data-driven adjustments. Introduce diverse learning delivery approaches to meet business needs and deliver ROI.
  • Talent Development and Performance Enhancement: Design and execute employee development programs to enhance skills across all levels, lead leadership development initiatives through coaching and mentoring, collaborate with stakeholders to deliver impactful learning experiences that drive engagement and performance, and monitor employee progress and provide strategic guidance.
  • Program Management and Implementation Excellence: Oversee the design and execution of learning programs aligned with organizational priorities, manage the employee onboarding program (YVR Arrivals) to ensure a positive experience for new hires, innovate learning delivery methods, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Build strategic partnerships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, stay informed about industry trends and best practices, represent the learning function in forums and conferences, and promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in learning and development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in adult learning, human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in strategic leadership and the implementation of corporate learning and development initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and learning technologies.
What We Offer:

At Vancouver Airport Authority, we offer a competitive salary range of $135,840 to $195,270 per annum, an annual bonus target at 20% of your annual salary, and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous vacation days, extensive health benefits, retirement savings matching, wellness programs, community engagement, commuting support, and continuous learning opportunities.
