Job Summary

The Dietary Aide plays a vital role in our community, impacting the lives of residents and fostering human connection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow proper food handling techniques to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Date, label, and store food properly to maintain quality and freshness
  • Keep the work area clean and uncluttered, completing scheduled cleaning duties to maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Maintain the cleanliness of floors in the food preparation, dish room, and storage areas to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment
  • Support all aspects of optimal food service to meet the needs of residents in accordance with infection control, quality management, legislative requirements, and organizational standards
  • Assist in the preparation of meals, serving meals and beverages, following residents' diets and food preferences, using proper portion sizes to ensure a satisfying dining experience
  • Take orders for the first and second menu choices from residents, following their preferences and dietary needs
  • Set and clear tables in the dining rooms and wash/sanitize tables, chairs, and serveries to maintain a clean and welcoming environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and maintain a smooth operation

Requirements

  • A valid Safe Food Handler's Certificate to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Food service experience working with institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings to demonstrate knowledge and skills
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills to interact with residents and colleagues

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Food Service Worker Certificate – enrolled or program completed to demonstrate a commitment to the field
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check to ensure a safe and secure environment

Compensation

The wage level is $24.34 per hour, with the potential for wage leveling to end and the pay rate to reflect the collective agreement.
