About the Role

SNDL Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Health, Safety and Security Department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Work with facilities to promote a positive safety culture by reviewing, maintaining, and improving the Health, Safety and Security program.
  • Collaborate with the local Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) members to ensure effective safety practices.
  • Assess and implement safety protocols, review policies and procedures, and handle Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and WorkSafeBC related matters.
  • Develop and implement Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures.
  • Manage incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up, including managing injury claims with WorkSafeBC.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new hires and manage safety training programs.
  • Lead the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) and participate in safety leadership meetings.
  • Prepare safety reports and track safety performance metrics.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility's Emergency Response Plan.
Requirements
  • University certificate or diploma in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) or Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) programs.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role, with recent experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • First Aid certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of OH&S legislation and regulatory requirements, particularly WorkSafeBC.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience managing WorkSafeBC claims and handling occupational hygiene issues is considered an asset.
